Respiratory Therapist Schools In Illinois, IL
There are two, major Respiratory Therapist Schools in Illinois that provide a superior education in the field of RA. If you either live in Illinois (which will offer you a residential-state scholarship), or you simply have a desire to move there, you will be able to receive some of the best RA degree programs in the country from Illinois Central College in Peoria and Parkland College in Champaign. Both of these colleges are endorsed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and the Illinois Society for Respiratory Therapists (ISRT). If you are looking for better Illinois colleges in this field, you may not find one.
However, only the Illinois Central College will have a BS in Respiratory Therapy within their Health and Biology departments. Now, a common thread among most colleges is that they will have the two-year degree Associates program only qualify the student to be a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), and the Bachelors-4-year, or advanced program, will qualify him or her to be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). This is the case with ICC, but not Parkland College. Within the Parkland College two-year Associates program, the student will be able to achieve the RRT status. RRT means that job offers really begin to open up and career advancements can be made in stride.
One of the best places to find work in Illinois is Glenoaks Hospital in Glendale Heights. Also, Edward Hospital in Naperville moves to the top of the list for RRT’s. These two hospitals will pay out an average salary of roughly $67,600, according to the ISRT.
One might say that this salary is not nearly high enough to live in metro areas where inflation is up and so are the taxes, but because there will be minimal school loans to deal with, this number is actually quite comfortable for the average Registered Respiratory Therapist.
