When you are a certified respiratory therapy tech, you will test the capacity of the patient's lungs, measure the potential of the patient's hydrogen which will tell you the acidity or alkalinity level in the blood.

Knowing the results of these tests along with other protocols within the exams, the certified respiratory therapy technician can then work on a routine basis with the patient for the required breathing treatment schedule.

Being a certified respiratory therapy tech, there are different environments that you could end up working in. A certified respiratory therapy tech will mostly work in hospital setting but can also work in physician offices, nursing homes, respiratory equipment suppliers, and respiratory clinics.
